CUFC Lottery supports The Big Fish Off 2025
On Thursday 11 September Cambridge United Stadium Manager and Head Groundsman, Ian Darler BEM, will attempt to catch 75kg of fish in 12 hours – the equivalent of 12 stone, or the weight of Liam O’Neil – with an independent verifier on site to confirm the total.
The event – run by Ian's Cambridge Charity Fundraisers and supported by CUFC Foundation – will take place at Frasers Fishery in Little Downham and the fundraising target is £6,000. Funds raised will be shared equally among six local charities:
- Cambridge United Foundation
- Little Buds
- East Anglia Children’s Hospices (EACH)
- CPSL Mind
- Arthur Rank Hospice Charity
- Wood Green, The Animals Charity
Ian Darler commented: 'Every pound raised makes a difference. I’m looking forward to the challenge and hope the community will get behind it to support these six fantastic charities.'
To support Ian and his six chosen charities, the CUFC Lottery committee has approved a donation of £250 and further donations can be made here.
On receipt of our donation, Ian expressed his heartfelt thanks to the Lottery committee and all the players who support the Lottery on a weekly basis. If you'd like to help us provide further support to local good causes and projects around the Abbey, you can sign up to play here.
